Experian has launched a new service, Universal ID Check, which can be used by organisations to verify the identities of people who come from any one of twenty-four countries. Developed as part of its fraud, identity and risk solutions product range, the new service will provide an alternative to the use of documents to verify an individual’s identify. Countries currently covered by the service are: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States. Announcing the new product, Jim Lound, Product Director, Fraud & Identity Solutions at Experian said, ‘It will appeal to international organisations that reach out to customers across the countries covered, to local organisations needing to verify overseas residents and recent arrivals, and to organisation requiring a flexible single-solution for verifying identities across multiple customer contact channels’ http://press.experian.com/documents/showdoc.cfm?doc=3244. Researchers will no doubt have a list of countries that they would wish to see added to the list, especially those in the Asian and African sub-continents and in the Middle East.
